DAAV SMS Anti-Spammer Product Family: All Platforms

Naming Convention

Product Name

The name of this whole product family is DAAV SMS Anti-Spammer. Well understood, isn't it?

Version Number Suffix

You may fine in the names of the released CAB packages a sub-string like "1.050L" which has a suffix character "L". What is it for? Here is a summary:

L Machine Learning, a technical term related to Artificial Intelligence
M China Mobile MMarket, which means a version made specifically for MMarket, the appstore of China Mobile
O Olympic, used only in the Olympic Edition released in 2008. No more used.

In fact, versions with a "M" or "O" suffix make use of Marching Learning technologies as well. Thus we use these suffices to make it convenient for our users to identify which specific version she is using. Unfortunately some mirror site changes the original package name, hence deprives the semantic implications contained in the filename.

For each platform/phone OS, we elaborated the minute differences among the several editions on its respective page:

Common Features

The software is able to auto-detect the phone system language and display its UI also in English and Traditional Chinese. However, the core module of currently released versions deals mainly with Simplified-Chinese text messages. You may still find it helpful when visiting or traveling in Mainland China. We may release in the future versions with a core module processing specifically SMS in languages such as English, German, and French.

After installation, the program resides and runs in the background, functioning like part of the phone OS. Incoming text messages are automatically computed to be either legitimate, that will be let through as usual, or junk, that will be thrown into a special SMS folder named "Spam" created by our program. Except to acknowledge once in a while notifications regarding the received messages, a phone user needs to do nothing else to stop the spam SMS. Just let our program do the work locally on the phone.

The software auto-checks updates from time to time via wireless Internet. However, some appstores only publish standalone applications that do not connect to the wireless Internet. In the versions made for them, the functionality of update auto-check is disabled.

Depending on edition, our programs handle in different fashions the establishment of connection to the wireless Internet. For example, the Basic Edition never initiates proactively such an establishment of connection. Instead, it only tries to access the wireless Internet to check the update availability when such a connection has been established, either by the user or other programs such as IE Mobile. The Personalized instead will inquire the user before the establishment, and the Advanced Edition always proactively initiates such an establishment of connection.
